APPEARANCE

When one looks at Harriet, she brings to mind a fairy creature. Possessing a lithe, strong body, with supple skin and modest curves, she is an image of radiance and fair health—a far cry from the often sickly nature that plagues the Lacratelle family due to their service to the baptisms in Lake Vexil. Her soft hair is cut in a bob even shorter than a pageboy’s, falling in messy layers of golden waves. Her features are fine and symmetrical, her wide eyes a pale mauve, with a dainty nose and lips that look very lightly rouged from her vivacity. She usually wears men’s clothing in her day-to-day life, or her slayer armour—though she can be convinced to wear a dress if you can get her to stay still.

Her legs are long, but what is most striking about them is that both legs are artificial replacements. During excursions as a Slayer, they resemble greaves of armour with a dull, tarnished sheen so as to not reflect too much light for stealth, though her calves are essentially represented as a hollow cage to reduce the overall weight and to be a conduit for her wraith to channel into. If she were to make an appearance for a formal event, there are pairs of legs that she swaps out that are more doll-like in their appearance, though they tend to have extra embellishments–the engraving of wings on their porcelain surface, filigree, or intricate metalwork that form the contour of her calves. Artificial legs and armour are perhaps her grandest expenditures when it comes to her appearance, almost treating it as a form of body modification and jewellery.

Her Slayer’s mask resembles a stylised knight’s helm, like the cover of a bascinet, with silver brambles and an eerie, purple glow.

PERSONALITY

DESIRES: If she can’t put an end to Umbral Corruption, then she would at least want to put an end to the cultural shame surrounding it in Athefast.
DISLIKES: Conforming to society, nobility, the Board of Saints, the undead, ‘boring’ wine and beer, the stigma around demonic corruption held in Athefast
LIKES: Equestrian sports, sweets, dad jokes, bière de coupage, straightforward people, predicting the ending of a story or play correctly
HOBBIES: Gymnastics, horse-riding, parkour, fencing, sparring, weapons & equipment maintenance, journalling.

Possessing energy like a spark or a flash of light, Harriet’s cheerful disposition is more pixie-like and effervescent than her brother’s intense magnetic charisma. She smiles easily, laughs genuinely, and speaks her mind freely. Every movement she makes is fluid and airy, to the point of weightlessness. Harriet would have found a great calling as a dancer for her precise detail to form, or a performer for her effortless charm.

Having been raised by two men that embodied flawless reasoning and corporal perfection, she takes lessons from their teachings to form her outlook on life. At her core however, is a spirited and mettlesome being that dares to go against the grain, in dichotomy with how she conducts herself with prince-like strength and nobility.

Defiant, wilful, and rebellious, she is unafraid to take risks if it meant living her life authentically. This philosophy would seem strange in her other core part of her identity—that such a lively and sparkling person would don the mask of a Slayer.

Harriet has failed in her identity in girlhood and the duties of nobility, yet from this, she found true freedom to truly live the way she wanted. In spite of the tragedies of her life, her Panglossian outlook is more akin to a mask she wears to hide her true feelings, as well as testament to her mental fortitude. Her stake in her fight against Umbral Corruption is deeply personal. She would rather cast aside her responsibility to her birthright to fight against real evils that condemns the living.

ABILITY INFORMATION

✦ Battle Litany — Harriet is capable of using any mêlée weapon effectively and proficiently from her martial training as a Slayer. Weapons that aren’t her speciality will not rival someone who is considered at a master’s level, but she could hold her own against them with a disadvantage in skill. Her preferred weapons and the ones she has mastery over are lances & polearms, hand-to-hand combat, whips, swords, and rapiers.

✦ Butterfly Step — Harriet is exceedingly agile, able to leap across great distances and through obstacles, run across narrow structures, scale and climb walls, and do other feats of surprising agility and athletics with the daring and grace of a performer. Difficult or treacherous terrain barely slows her down, and she can close the gap to an enemy or leap away from danger with ease.

✦ Bloodlines Bequeathed — Harriet has increased magical resistance and has also undergone conditioning against the supernaturally cold shock of Lake Vexil due to her training as a member of the de Lacratelle family. Spells, enchantments, and fluctuations in mana have lesser effect if cast against her.

The Lacratelle Family

One of the thirteen noble houses of Athefast, the Lacratelle family is renowned for their piety and shoulders the tradition of baptisms in Lake Vexil. They also monitor the Font for fluctuations that could potentially endanger Augustine. Typically, they show higher magical resistance than most of the populace, which is both innate and trained. Due to repeated exposure to Lake Vexil’s font, lowered fertility rate, complex chronic illnesses, and mana mutations more commonly observed. To remedy this, magically-augmented medicine and infertility management are given increased attention to remedy their otherwise suffering health.

Nothing bad happens I promise
